Artist Statement

In my artistic practice, I explore the intersection of photography and mixed media, weaving vibrant visuals and delicate compositions to evoke narratives of transformation and interconnectedness.

My photography celebrates vivid hues and exaggerated tones, pushing the boundaries of perception to transform mundane scenes into abstract wonders. By amplifying colors and textures, I invite viewers to see familiar objects and natural landscapes through a new lens, encouraging them to contemplate the beauty and complexity of the world around them.

In contrast, my mixed-media pieces delve into themes of nostalgia and fragility, reflecting on the intricate tapestry of life and our place within it. By layering various materials and textures, I aim to capture the ephemeral nature of existence, exploring how moments and memories intertwine to shape our perceptions of reality.

Recently, I have been captivated by the creation of large-scale abstract works infused with playful energy and boundless imagination. These pieces serve as a visual playground, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a world of vibrant colors and dynamic forms where boundaries blur and possibilities abound.

After leading a nationally recognized, multimillion-dollar broadcast marketing company in the Northeast for over twenty years—the first all-female radio marketing firm in the country—Ilene Adams made a bold shift. She moved to Florida and redirected her focus to supporting small businesses and the arts.

Her passion for creativity led her into the nonprofit arts world, where she used her marketing skills to help grow an art center in West Palm Beach and support several arts organizations. She continues to share her expertise by offering seminars on marketing for artists.

Ilene’s art practice reflects her broad creative background. She studied painting and printmaking in Rome and earned a BFA from Tyler School of Art at Temple University. She later studied marketing at Harvard University and design with Milton Glaser at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her experience in textile, mural, graphic, and web design continues to shape her fine art.

She has curated exhibitions for ArtSynergy at Art Palm Beach and Art Boca, Zero Empty Spaces, and Artists of Palm Beach County, and served as a judge for the international ArtiGras outdoor art show, Naples Art Shows, and Old School Square/Cornell Museum. Ilene is currently working on several public art projects and has held leadership roles with ArtSynergy, Artists of Palm Beach County, and the Wellington Art Society. She also served as a longtime advisor to the Cultural Affairs Committee for the City of West Palm Beach.

Recently, Ilene has been captivated by the creation of large-scale abstract works infused with playful energy and boundless imagination. These pieces become vibrant visual playgrounds, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in bold colors and dynamic forms—spaces where boundaries dissolve and possibilities are limitless.

These recent explorations mark a new chapter in her creative evolution—one where scale, color, and energy converge to express the unspoken and the universal. They are an invitation to step outside the ordinary, to pause, reflect, and experience the power of pure visual language.

Alongside her art practice, Ilene is also the founder and creative force behind The Marketing Works of Palm Beach, a dynamic marketing company specializing in website development and design for clients worldwide. This ongoing work keeps her deeply connected to the ever-evolving landscape of visual communication and digital storytelling, skills that continue to inform and enrich her fine art practice.

Ilene Adams works out of her studio at Zero Empty Spaces in Palm Beach Gardens, where her creative energy thrives. Her latest solo exhibition, Chromatic Convergence: An Abstract Odyssey, is on view at Palm Beach Gardens City Hall through August 14 and features 22 vibrant, large-scale abstract works. In addition, several of her pieces are on display at LaBar in Palm Beach, where she is proudly represented by Oditto Gallery. Both venues are open to the public, and all works are available for purchase.
